What to do in Mooloolaba and Beyond this December
Watch the Summer of Surf Event 1 in neighbouring Alexandra Headland.
Head to neighbouring Alexandra Headland to watch Australia’s best athletes compete in the Shaw and Partners Summer Surf Event 1. This sporting event is happening on the 1st of December and starts at 3pm. Competitors will fight to reach 10,000 points, giving them a chance to win the $75,000 prize.
Check out the thrilling Open Ironman and Open Ironwoman competitions. There will be an open ski, board, and swim competition. There will also be competition for those under 15 and under 17. While there, you can also check out the Under 17 Race One Ski Series.

Get on a festive Christmas Lights cruise.
Are you visiting Mooloolaba this December? One of the best things to do in Mooloolaba is to cruise its maze-like canals and beyond. There are a lot of cruise operators in Mooloolaba, and you can book one of them to show you around.
There’s Coastal Cruises Mooloolaba, which offers year-round and special cruises. Year-round cruises feature the scenic Sunset cruise and Seafood Lunch cruise.

Mooloolaba Canal Cruise also offers Christmas Lights Cruises if you visit Mooloolaba this December. This cruise runs from the 1st to the 30th of December. Other cruise operators that offer special cruises this Christmas include Whale One Mooloolaba, Sunreef Mooloolaba, and Seafood Cruise Mooloolaba.

Visit Sea Life on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve
A visit to Mooloolaba is complete with a visit to Sea Life Sunshine Coast. This massive theme park is home to different fish species, sharks, rays, and turtles. The kids will enjoy exhibits like the Seahorse Kingdom, Little Blue Penguins, and Seal Island.
Sea Life Sunshine Coast is open year-round except for Christmas Day and Anzac Day. It is open from 9 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon. The last entry is at 2pm. Book your ticket here.
Shop at Festive on the Green
You can do a lot at this year’s Festive on the Green. Here, you can check out and buy local products and sample the best of Sunshine Coast’s cuisine. Interactive activities and live music performances will be held during the event. And if you’re lucky, you might get a giveaway!
Catch Festive on the Green on the 16th of December. It will be at the Sunshine Coast Stadium in neighbouring Bokarina. The event will start at 3pm and end at 8:30pm. It is a free event. Get your tickets to this event here.
Watch the New Year’s Eve Fireworks at the Mooloolaba Esplanade
We’re happy you will ring in the New Year with us in Mooloolaba. We recommend participating in the festive cheer by watching the New Year’s Eve fireworks at the Esplanade Mooloolaba. Enjoy interactive glow shows for the young ones to enjoy plus food trucks and live music.
There will be two fireworks displays on New Year’s Eve. The first one will happen at 8:30 in the evening – perfect for families with kids needing to be in bed early. The second fireworks display will happen at midnight so you can say goodbye to 2023 with a bang.
