The Sunshine Coast Marathon & Community Run Festival, a member of the Association of International Marathons & Road Races (AIMS), will mark its tenth anniversary in 2022. Sunshine Coast Marathon, one of Australia’s most popular running events, has earned over $1.6 million for charity and community groups since its beginning.
The Sunshine Coast Marathon will be held on the beautiful Sunshine Coast from August 13 to 14 if you want to participate or support a friend. Blue skies, low humidity, and temperate temperatures, paired with a flat track, make the locale a good site for quick times.
Sunshine Coast Marathon event distances include the following:
- Sunshine Coast Marathon
- Elites: 5:55am
- Remaining Competitors: 6 am
- McDonald’s Half Marathon
- Australian Half Marathon Championships and Elites: 5:55 am
- Wheelchair Half Marathon: 5:57 am
- Remaining Competitors: 6 am
- Westpac 10km: 9am
- Cricks 5km Run (QLD 5km Championships): 10:15 am

Each road race follows the magnificent Alexandra Headlands coastline, which features white sand beaches and breathtaking ocean views. The Half Marathon is a one-loop track, with Marathon runners completing a multi-loop course (1 x 21km + 2 x 10.5 km), taking advantage of on-course festivities and crowds before a red carpet ‘hero’ finish.
This community-focused, world-class sporting event caters to those who want to join, including families and those with physical and intellectual disabilities, with a distance to suit every skill and age group.
Parents with prams and wheelchairs can join the 2km race and enjoy the festival atmosphere. Race start times allow parents to race longer distances and then return in time to run with their children and enjoy the free activities in the family entertainment district.
