Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast
Are long-distance triathlon competitions your thing? On September 2022, Ironman 70.3 will be at Mooloolaba, on the Sunshine Coast.
The ROKA Swim Course, a 1.9km swim at Mooloolaba Beach, kicks off the race. The ocean swim is a one-lap counter-clockwise course that begins at Mooloolaba Beach’s eastern, more protected end and ends around 120 meters west of the swim start.
The Ventum Bike Course, which is 90 kilometres long, comes next. The cycling segment starts at Parkyn Parade Park in Mooloolaba, directly across from the Mooloolaba Boat Ramp, and heads out onto the Sunshine Motorway via Mooloolaba Esplanade and Buderim Avenue. Athletes will ride along the seaside to Maroochydore and back after exiting the freeway, then back onto Buderim Avenue for a second loop before returning to Mooloolaba’s Transition.
The final course is the 21.1-kilometre HOKA Run Course. Runners will leave Transition and proceed east along The Spit, passing through Point Park, before continuing north to the Mooloolaba Boardwalk and Esplanade. Athletes will continue to Cotton Tree via Sixth Avenue and Alexandra Parade after crossing the picturesque Alexandra Headland Hill. Athletes will follow the same path over the picture-perfect beach shoreline for the second lap before finishing on Beach Terrace.
